Chapter 48: Proud of you

Chapter 48 Proud of you

Seven o'clock in the evening.

Daisy's house.

Daisy is busy in the kitchen, wearing a pink apron that still can't hide her graceful figure.

"Ding Dong..."

A doorbell rang.

Daisy walked to the door, checked the access control video, breathed a sigh of relief, and opened the door.

Luke stood at the door, took out a bouquet of roses from behind, "Here you are."

"Wow..." Daisy took the rose and smelled the fragrance, "Thank you, I didn't expect you to have a romantic side."

"As long as you don't feel corny."

"No, no matter what time of day, women like flowers." Daisy stepped aside, "Come in, dinner will be ready soon."

"Do you need my help?"

"Can you set the table for me?"

"Of course." Luke washed his hands and helped Daisy prepare dinner together.

Fried steak, grilled tuna, vegetable salad, mashed potatoes, mushroom soup, big Lieba, red wine.

The two sat on both sides of the table, Daisy held up the red wine, "Toast to you."

"I should be the one who respects you for preparing such a sumptuous dinner."

The two touched a glass, and Daisy said, "I haven't cooked for a long time, how about the taste?"

Luke cut a piece of steak and tasted it, "It's very tender and tastes good, I like it very much."

The two chatted while eating, talking about ideals, hobbies, and some interesting things.

After the meal, Luke took the initiative to brush the tableware, and his thoughtful behavior added a little bit to Daisy's heart.

Luke washed the dishes and walked out of the kitchen. Daisy had already prepared the fruit plate and red wine.

Luke took the red wine glass, clinked glasses with Daisy, and took a sip, "Want to talk about the case?"

"Can we talk? I know you have a confidentiality agreement."

Luke quipped, "Not as strict as your lawyers."

Daisy chuckled, "Is there any progress in the investigation?"

"We re-interrogated the robber Tim, who killed his confession and refused to admit that there were other accomplices."

"Why? He is unwilling to taint witnesses?"

"It's hard to say now, but he is very firm and can only investigate from other directions."

Daisy pursed her red lips, "Do you need my help?"

"Tomorrow we will go to the hospital where Lawn lives to investigate, and chat with his family members by the way. It is best to call the beneficiary of the will to the hospital."

Daisy nodded, "I'll try my best."

Homay Hospital.

This is a private hospital located in the suburbs of Los Angeles. The environment is very beautiful. There are no group wards, only double rooms, single rooms and deluxe rooms.

Daisy led Luke and David into the inpatient building.

David looked at the facilities of the hospital and said with emotion, "The environment here is better than the hotel where I went on vacation."

"Maybe this is the happiness of rich people." Luke smiled, and asked Daisy who was beside him, "Has Lawn's family arrived?"

"I contacted Lawn's wife and asked her to come to the hospital with her children and talk to them about the will. I believe they will come."

David asked, "How many testamentary beneficiaries are there?"

"I don't know the specific content of the video will." Daisy led the two up to the third floor, and stopped at the door of Ward 302. "Lauen is in this ward."

Luke reminded David in a low voice, "Try to talk less for a while."

This big brother's violent temper will definitely hurt someone.

David said dissatisfied, "You don't seem to be the detective yet?"

"It will be soon." Luke followed Daisy into the ward.

Lying on the hospital bed was a man in his fifties, with brown hair and a medium build, wearing a light blue spotted hospital gown with an oxygen mask on his face.

On the left side of the hospital bed sat a middle-aged woman full of jewelry, and on the right side stood a woman in her twenties.

A young doctor in a white coat and a stethoscope stood on the bed.

Luke has read Lawn Bull's profile and learned about his family situation.

Laun's wife is Caroline Bull, and the two belong to a remarried family.

Lawne brought a daughter, Sophia, and Caroline, a son, Brooke Pierce.

Lawne and Caroline remarried and gave birth to a young daughter, Emma.

The jeweled middle-aged woman asked, "Lawyer Daisy, what do you want us to do?"

"Sorry, I didn't make it clear on the phone. Actually, I have encountered some troubles and I want to ask you for help." Daisy showed an apologetic look, pointing to Luke and David to introduce,

"This is Detective Luke, and that is Detective David."

The middle-aged woman frowned slightly and asked, "Daisy, what do you mean by calling the police over? You better give me a reasonable explanation."

Daisy walked to the hospital bed and asked with concern, "How is Mr. Lawn's condition? Has it improved?"

The middle-aged woman answered irrelevantly, "Please don't change the subject."

Daisy sighed softly, "Since Mr. Lawn was hospitalized, I have encountered some bad things during this time.

On March 2, someone broke into my office illegally to steal documents.

On March 3, I was robbed on the street.

On March 15th, someone sneaked into my house and installed a surveillance camera in the study to take sneak shots.

I called the police. The police thought it might be related to Mr. Lawn’s entrustment of the will. I would like to invite you to come over and have a chat. "

The young woman showed a look of surprise, "Damn it, is what you said true? This is too scary."

"Miss Sophia, these two are detectives from the 'Robbery and Murder Division', they can prove my words."

Luke took advantage of the situation and asked, "Miss Sophia, are you the eldest daughter of Mr. Boone?"

"Yes." Sophia replied, pointing to the middle-aged woman and the man in the white coat and said, "This is my stepmother Caroline, and Brooke."

Luke looked at Brook, "Are you a doctor in this hospital?"

Without waiting for Brooke to answer, her mother Caroline said proudly, "My son is a resident doctor in this hospital and also my husband's attending doctor. Thanks to him...Lauen's condition has improved."

Luke asked, "How is Mr. Lawn doing? What's wrong with him?"

Brook replied, "The lack of oxygen in the brain leads to a coma. After fainting, he fell and injured his head. The brainstem was damaged to a certain extent and he became unconscious. The situation is more difficult."

Luke proposed, "Can I see the diagnostic report?"

Brooke was stunned for a moment, "Sorry, this is related to the patient's privacy."

Luke looked at Sophia, "I heard that your father left a video will, can I have a look?"

Without waiting for Sophia to answer, stepmother Caroline refused, "No, that's a very private thing. It's Lawn's farewell to his family. What right do you have to ask for that?"

Luke said, "It's not a request, it's just a chat."

"We have nothing to talk about." Caroline said to Daisy on the side, "lawyer, please take these two detectives away. Also, please respect your profession. If you reveal to the police that I Another will of the husband, I will sue you."

"Without Mr. Lawn's permission, I won't show it to anyone. I'm sorry, because of my personal reasons, I caused you trouble." After Daisy finished speaking, she looked at Luke aside,

"Let's go."

Out of the ward, David said lightly, "I didn't say anything."

Luke put his arm around David's shoulders, "I'm proud of you."

David pointed his middle finger, "Are you going to leave in such a disgruntled manner?"

"So what's your idea?"

"Follow me." David walked to the triage desk and asked a female nurse, "Excuse me, which floor is the dean's office?"

The little nurse asked back, "Do you have anything to do?"

David flashed his police badge.

"The easternmost side of the 5th floor."

"Thank you." After David finished speaking, he took the elevator to the fifth floor.

Daisy stood beside Luke and asked softly, "Does your colleague know the dean?"

Luke had mixed feelings, "I got to know each other soon."
